Treatment of Tendonitis

Tendonitis, while often a painful ailment, can be treated with success by Chinese and western medicines as well as acupuncture. Many people find that taking advantage of both eastern and western types of treatments at the same time can provide faster and more lasting relief from tendonitis symptoms. Acupuncture is said to help reduce inflammation in the affected area and helps relax the muscles for quicker healing, while medications such as ibuprofen can work well to reduce swelling and discomfort. Additionally, physical therapy exercises are beneficial to build up weak muscles that often cause the issue in the first place. With proper treatment tailored to individual needs, many find success in managing their tendonitis pain and leading a healthy life.

Tendonitis is a common medical condition affecting tendons, the fibrous cords that bind muscles to bones. It occurs when an overuse or repetitive strain injury causes the tendon sheath to become inflamed and painful. The most common types of tendonitis are posterior tibial tendonitis (PTTD), shoulder tendonitis, and patellar tendonitis. PTTD is most commonly seen in middle-aged individuals as a result of excessive strain on the foot tendons while walking or running or due to ill-fitting footwear. Shoulder tendonitis, also known as rotator cuff syndrome, can be caused by several factors including overuse, poor posture, and aging. The most commonly affected area in patellar tendonitis is around the kneecap where it connects with two large thigh muscles called the quadriceps and occurs mainly due to weight lifting or running too much on hard surfaces. Though treatment options vary depending on what type of tendonitis a person has there are some commonalities such as physical therapy, rest and icing, medications, or even surgery. However, steroid injections can sometimes be used if not respond to other treatments.

Acupuncture is an effective and safe treatment option for tendonitis of the shoulder and patella. According to recent research, it has been shown to alleviate pain associated with this condition more effectively than traditional methods such as medication therapy. This form of treatment gives individuals suffering from such debilitating pain a drug-free and safe alternative for managing their symptoms. Acupuncture works by targeting and stimulating specific areas of the body in order to improve flow, reduce pressure, and calm inflammation – all of which are very beneficial in the treatment of tendonitis. With its lack of serious side effects, acupuncture is becoming one of the best options available to those who need relief from tendon injury-related pain.

Tendonitis, or inflammation of the tendons, can be an extremely painful condition. While there are many traditional treatments available for tendonitides, such as rest and physical therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed herbs to provide a natural alternative for the treatment of this condition. Herbal remedies are commonly used to treat tendonitis in the shoulder and knee, known as shoulder tendonitis and patellar tendonitis respectively. These herbal remedies have been shown to provide a significant improvement over placebo treatment in studies involving both acute and chronic tendonitis. In addition, using traditional Chinese herbal medicines may reduce certain side effects associated with other conventional treatments such as anti-inflammatory drugs. Although more research is still needed to fully understand the efficacy of these herbal therapies for treating tendonitis, their potential is certainly exciting and worth exploring further.
